The Services We Offer
Cardiac Consultation
A cardiac consultation is an opportunity for you to speak one-on-one with your cardiologist ( a doctor who is a heart specialist) about the health of your heart and blood vessels. This will cover your current symptoms, worries, personal risks and any lifestyle factors that may be important.
Echocardiogram (Heart Ultrasound)
The cardiac echo gives a safe and quick moving picture of your heart using ultrasound waves. This helps your doctor check if there are any problems with your heart’s valves and chambers and see how strongly your heart pumps blood.
Coronary Angiogram (Diagnostic coronary angiography)
A coronary angiogram may be done during or after a heart attack and is the gold standard test for diagnosing blocked arteries or excluding significant coronary disease as a cause for your symptoms. It’s also known as ‘cardiac catheterisation’.
Coronary angioplasty or stenting
Coronary stenting or angioplasty (also called percutaneous coronary intervention – PCI) is a procedure used to treat ‘blockages’ within heart arteries to improve blood flow. Angioplasty involves temporarily inserting and inflating a small balloon, where your artery is blocked, to help widen the artery.
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An ECG reads your heart’s electrical impulses. Small sticky dots and wire leads are put on your chest, arms and legs. The leads are attached to an ECG machine which records the electrical impulses and prints them out on paper.
Electrical Cardioversion
Electrical cardioversion is used to ’reset’ the heart to a normal rhythm. It is carried out as a day stay procedure in hospital and is performed under mild anaesthesia.
Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA)
CTCA is a non-invasive technique that uses computed tomography (CT) to take pictures or images (angiograms) of the heart arteries.
Transoesophageal Echocardiogram (TOE)
Transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) is an imaging test similar to a cardiac echo which uses ultrasound to take pictures of your moving heart.
Remote Pacemaker / ICD Monitoring Service
Coast Heart provides remote monitoring of implanted devices from all of the major manufacturers.
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
Aortic stenosis is when the aortic valve is narrowed and limits the blood flow exiting the heart muscle.
